Digimon Story Time Stranger

1/8/2026 - Suzanne got me this for Christmas but I'm only just now getting around to making a post about it. I really like the story so far though in typical Digimon fashion it is a bit weird. Digi Godzilla attacked the city and I got thrown 8 years into the past and then also ended up in the Digital World. The game feels like an upgraded version of Cyber Sleuth which is nice. I tried getting into New Order because it's supposed to be essentially a remake of the original Digimon World on the PlayStation, which was my favorite, but I couldn't get into the controls. Maybe I will try again after this. But since I have yet to finish this game, I will end my review here for now and post an update once the game is done.

1/20/2026 - Well I finally finished Time Stranger. I thought it was a very good game. Not to say it wasn't without its flaws. The game felt too long to me - I had roughly 80 hours in it and that's with completing maybe half of the side quests. The final boss fight felt like something out of a Final Fantasy fight. It was longer than nearly all the other boss fights combined. The story was good albeit more than a bit convoluted. There is lots and lots (and lots) of time travel, but as the game is full of fun and interesting characters, that makes up for it. The combat gets to be a bit repetitive and makes the game feel somewhat grindy, but if you're just casually playing it you might not notice so much. All in all if you are a fan of Digimon and like their darker, more mature story lines, you might want to check this game out! RPG Screenshot

I should have picked the female main character.

Pokemon TCGP

1/11/26 - I started playing Pokemon TCGP the day it launched. Like most millennials, I grew up at the height of the Pokemon craze. I've held in my hands First Edition Charizard cards and I've watched as they were dented and damaged by a bunch of pre-teens who didn't realize they held their college tuition or even future mortgages in their dirty little hands. The cards had no monetary value to us. We kept the pokemon that we loved (Kadabra) and traded away those cards we thought were useless (Mr. Mime), without a thought to the future. Now there are scalpers at every card store, jacking up the prices to ridiculous amounts as the focus for the cards shifts from memories to money. My son collects the cards but he has a pretty good understanding of how to take care of valuable cards. He prefers to collect rather than play the game, so his rare cards get soft and/or hard sleeved for the future.

Back to TCGP. I don't focus much on the competitive side of the game. I only take part in the ranked matches when there is a reward for doing so. Mostly I just do all the missions I can in order to get the material to open packs. It's a pretty straightforward game and if you have a problem spending money on cards because you have to collect them all, I suggest using caution with this game because it is very easy to spend a small fortune chasing the rares in each set.
